Oedipus – the truth is never what you want it to be

Free will and determinism in the world of minority report-how we as individuals can pretty much alter the future by making distinct decisions depending on the circumstances

Minority report- future is never certain and we can always change it no matter what

Gattaca- genetic alterations are never 100% perfect

Matrix- The difference and choice between two worlds a dystopia or utopia

                                I think throughout all the texts and movies viewed that the conclusion id have to say most abides to me is the one of that how we as individuals we can alter our decisions to make better ones and change our future. Knowing that we can make a mistake at any time but yet do our fondest to correct it, and not get chased down by men with rocket packs because we had a thought of killing someone than for one mistake get put away for life. Oedipus, minority report, gattaca all have one thing in common to me that they all had the power to make the choice to do something or not willing and knowing the consequences of the choices made they disregarded them. Oedipus, searched for the truth from his mother about his father and herself, not liking the outcome but he got what he looked for. Minority report is where the main character had no other choice but to kill a man he never met before but then again making and alternate choice and not taking his life but trying to bring him into justice. Set up to frame the main character he goes through leaps and bounds to find out the truth behind a particular case with missing data, regardless of what the consequences are he moved forward and found the truth. Two choices anticipated by the precogs the man took his own choice and ended his own life not wanting to be incarcerated.        So many situations seem similar and almost all the choices had an alternate method of taking this course but then again they just refused to think thoroughly and continue forward and pushing through the situations brought to they’re attention. I believe that all the texts and movies there could have been an alternate means to solving the situation or going about it but they all made the choice to go and do what they had to do to accomplish their goals regardless of what any ones expectations or answers they had received from them. So id have to say that the free will and ability to make choices and not stick with that one choice but be able to change your mind if need be is beyond any other asset known to us.

     The blogger has its benefits and its doubts, considering its a highly beneficial school asset. Since I've started the blogger i can see vast improvement when it comes in regards to school work but yet also it has developed my perspective also. Disregarding all the public views and critiques of ones work it just really helps you be more open with your words and express your thoughts in black and white. Mainly concerned with my grammar and paragraph structure, blogger makes you in some ways read others writings and ideas on certain situations. Seeing the differences in others writing styles and way of expressing themselves brings some people into a whole new light. the down fall to the blogger being that its internet and anything is possible, the odds of the site being under maintenance or something of that nature are slim to none. Some may feel awkward by having random strangers read what they wrote about a particular topic and that alternate person may have a different perspective and then feel some type of way about the text. The fact that it's internet based also has high access due to the advance in technology you can probably check your site or even do the work via android phone and your work is either up to date or you are well aware of what work you have coming up soon. The main thing its public so to me it made me try harder when it comes to being deliberate and trying to make a good argument when it comes to particular assignments.The blogger is not really a journal but more of a constant update of your English improvements and a journal is more about personal views and feelings. I've been working on trying to grasp the readers more in depth when it comes to my blogs, with more in depth details and more concrete facts about the topic given. So all in all I feel my comfort zone in the public writing eye has vastly improved my confidence in my writing and expanded my thinking boundaries. Regardless we all need to benefit from this experience one way or another, accessible and convenient programs don't exist everywhere, so we as students need to take advantage of the academic improving tools given to us.

     In the movie minority report it demonstrates the limitations in which some of us live in in a futuristic enviorment, but also not to distinct from the world we live in today. A single individual chosen to make choices for us at all costs but yet applying so many laws and rules to abide by making it seem as if some what limited to our choices or decisions we make. Directed on the scenario in which where the director makes the choice to take his own life making a new choice or decision not even seen in the eyes of the future seer. In which case only thought that he was  going to end up incarcerated, the surprising decision taken upon the man himself to not waste his life but to end it and not live in a lifetime of shame. The main character made the particular of choices also when he found false evidence placed in a man bed room in which he didn't even know but yet foretold that he would murder this man, with the last piece finally in place and the truth being revealed and being falsely accused of the murder but being brought up on a charge of intended murder lead him to run as an outlaw til he could prove his innocence. The victim was being in charge of taking the blame of the disappearance of the main characters son, with this scar still beyond full recovery or comprehension, the man taking his own life with the gun was a choice that was not seen by the precog, but yet a more detailed he killed him picture. With the limits of what the precogs see is whats going to happen so lets stop it before you do it and incarcerate you procedure is a tad bit overwhelming in which ways that there is no hope for recovery or second chances. Demonstrating that power of ones conscience and free will can never be for certain but more spontaneous given the situation or the time to think  collectively and analyze the consequences of they're actions and change it if need be. In some scenarios in relate to our society also limits us to certain things i.e. the consumption of open containers in the streets, yet still legal to consume alcohol at the age of 21, being involved in alcohol consumption in public will lead to a fine or prosecution of the matter. Yet being allowed to purchase but only allowed to consume behind close doors puts a realistic perspective in a common day by day situation.
